Why Only Club Member Breeders Can Advertize On Our Web SiteThis section of our site is a promotional resource provided to only those Great Pyrenees Breeders who are members of our club. By being a Club member, our breeders have agreed to abide by the Club’s Code of Ethics and failure to do so is a reason for expulsion from the Club. In addition, our Breeders are members of the Canadian Kennel Club and must abide by their Code of Ethics for breeders as well. If you are a potential buyer of a Great Pyr puppy, this constitutes your protection that you are dealing with a reputable breeder.While there are many reputable Great Pyrenees Breeders around, not all are members of our club nor have they agreed to abide by our Code of Ethics. As a result the Club has limited knowledge of the breeder or the kennel, and is unable to accept any advertisement from a non-member.
If You Are A Buyer, This Is Important!For you, a potential purchaser, this is a resource to assist you in making your choice as it gives you access to Club breeders, information about their current litters, or when puppies may be available. However, the ultimate decision of where to buy is your decision and yours alone. Do your homework and obtain as much information as possible to ensure that you have made the right choice.The Club does not recommend that you purchase any puppy from a breeder who is not affiliated with the CKC or a Club. REMEMBER – BUYER BEWARE. If it seems like the deal is too good to be true, it probably is. Reputable breeders spend a lot of time and effort in advancing the breed, they genuinely care for their dogs and as such limit the number of breedings each bitch undergoes in order to allow her to fully recover after each litter. Puppy mills do not do this but breed for the sake of breeding. They just “churn” them out. That’s why they’re called mills. They are not concerned about the health and welfare of their animals, only the money. Often this means that genetic problems are passed from one generation to the next or problems arise because not enough care has been taken. As a buyer, you will have no knowledge of the background of the puppy or medical information. This also applies to Pet stores who purchase many of their animals from puppy mills. And what is the biggest surprise of all? You will be surprised to learn that it usually is cheaper to purchase from a breeder than it is to purchase from a pet store, and you get so much more peace of mind.
