Dice, The Dog that won me over...

Xmas 2013

Well, it starts with a Newfoundland named Daisy. She belonged to my girlfriend, and I was not an animal person. Daisy had accidents, it bothered me because I just bought us a house, and the dog peed everywhere. I told my girlfriend the dog had to go back to her dad's.

That night, 6-9-13 her and the dog were driving home and Daisy jumped out the window at 50mph... I felt so responsible for the entire thing. I'm a United States Marine, but the guilt I had tore me up for days. I cried like a child, I still get upset...

One month later on 7-10-13 I opened a Jones Soda. The cap told me to adopt a dog. I thought about it for an hour and then next morning I drove to Westmoreland county Pennsylvania and looked around with my girl. I told her we are not taking a dog home under any circumstances... Psh, I saw a lot of dogs with serious aggression, and piss and shit in their cage... Then, in the last cage was a Giant White Oaf with the sweet eyes Daisy had. No pee, no poop, not even spilled water. He was sitting pretty too.

I asked the lady if we could take him out to the yard, and since it was only 10 am, he haven't been out to exercise yet. With slack on the leash he led me to the area and proceeded to take the longest piss I've ever encountered... What else was there for me to do? My girl missed her dog, and I did too. This fella was bigger, yet had her eyes.. And he was pure white.

Well, I asked what I needed to do. And since I own my home, I'm stable, and I have experience with a big dog, they let me have him... I learned he was surrendered because of his lack of giving a shit what you say, lol... He's a PYR!!!

This dog has changed my life. He won't touch anything if it's not given to him, he won't pee on anything but grass, and he is the defender of our home. See, I own a multi unit building with me, and 3 women(including my girl). He's great with the cat, and very protective of the girls. Not me though:/

We just went on vacation and I wasn't gonna leave my buddy... Best decision I've ever made:) my dog is so much better than every other dog I come across. I read PYR's need dominance, and as a marine, I grasp the concept. He and I have an understanding. When he's with me, I'm on duty, and I'm in charge, but when I leave it's his turn. He's not aggressive, but he lets everyone walking the street know this is his turf. We live in the city of Pittsburgh,so that's a good thing.

This fella rescued me, his name is Dice, and he is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. All because I bought Jones soda did I find him... He rescued me from my guilt and sadness... Most of all, he made Brianna happy, and every day she's so excited to see him, and he her... He makes this place home, and I am forever going to be a PYR DAD...

Everything happens for a reason, and this fella has made me a better, more understanding, animal loving person...

God bless, and Semper Fi

The big white dog turns another
by: Ed a from nj

Your story has a very familiar ring to it. All you have to do is let one in your house and you are done! This breed is not a dog, but I would never say it is human like. They are far to good for that. They are so perceptive they know what you need before you do. They have great ability to judge people, if your pyr doesn't like someone you should be wary. All I would say is congratulations you have just been bitten by the pure bug you will never be the same! The biggest down side is forget about wearing black.
