We are happy to report that Jazz has found his forever home. Our thanks to his new family.

This was his story...

Jazz is a sweet 3 yr old boy who had a lot go on in his life but is ready to settle down with a new family. He may be mixed with a border collie to explain his head shape, size (only about 85-90 lbs) and striking colouring, but his temperament is all Pyrenees. A good thing for a dog this size!

He has come a long way since he came to us from a fearful farm dog to a loving yet protective family dog. He's learned to relax and play, loves his two “sister” cats and adores any attention he gets from his foster family and their friends.

He is SUPER cuddly and great with the cats. He is good with other dogs outside of the house, though picky of his friends, he will bounce around like a maniac when he plays with ones he trusts. He should be an only dog though as he has shown some jealousy when we had other dogs come to visit. He much prefers to have mom and dad to himself!

He doesn't know how to handle little kids, so any kids 10+ would be best. He is otherwise a very versatile dog! He could do well on a farm again either as a livestock guardian or as a general farm dog, but he craves so much attention from his humans that he may be happiest where he can spend as much time with people as possible. He would make a great companion for walks as well as for everyday chores.

He doesn't play with toys really but he loves physical attention and especially being brushed! He crate-trained himself early on in fostering. He thrives on routine and learns very quickly what it is!

Jazz is very treat-motivated and wickedly smart. The list of terms he knows includes “upstairs”, “downstairs”, “walk”, “outside”, “sit”, “lie down”, “go lie down”, “where's your bed” and “go kiss Lily” (with reference to his favourite of our cats). He could learn many more as well!

Unlike most pyrs, he is a bit easier to train this way, though like with most pyrs, you need to be firm still if you don't have a “cookie” on you. When he gets excited he's good at being bouncy without being jumpy. He's never jumped up on anybody, but he may twirl himself in the air before flopping on his back on the floor.

He is an excellent guardian of the house as well, but not an intense barker. He learns quickly what sounds are normal and what needs attention. He may show this more if there's somebody in the house who is very upset because of his background but this is easily manageable with some firm extra guidance.

His foster mom will be more than happy to tell you about his history and how this wonderful boy came to be on his journey. Would you like to meet this striking, rewarding boy and take him home?

Why not meet Jazz for yourself and see what an amazingly special and rewarding dog he is and consider adding him to your home?

Cuddly!
by: Katy (foster mom)

I completely forgot to add that Jazz will be in-your-face cuddly at all times if you let him. He is the ultimate attention hog and just loves any that's given to him. He loves to bury his head in your lap.
