My Lion, My Love

Thank you for writing your story and sharing it with us in such a delightful way. I started crying when I read the comment about the dog being a Lion in dog's clothing. It touched me in a way that was, well...kind of divine.

I got my love, Baron a couple years ago from an amazing rescue in Granite Bay, Ca called Sierra Great Pyrenees Club.

The weird thing was that I had decided not to get a dog. I hadn't pursued it with SGPC, only just thought about it a month prior and talked to a nice man there, one time. Out of nowhere I got an email that said- "We have a really special dog that I think is a match for you, would you like to meet him? Since I already decided to NOT get a dog, I really don't know how I found myself at the rescue. Baron walked out of his pen, came to me and leaned on me. It was love at first sight.

Baron had some health issues because he arrived in bad shape. I'm not going to share details because it hurts the heart. I, myself was dealing with some upsetting health stuff so you'd think I would have realized it would be a lot for me to handle (it was), but that never crossed my mind. I just knew he was my son.

Wouldn't you know...meeting his needs has actually benefited my health! I HAVE to walk twice a day. In the past two years we have been helping each other heal.

About the lion~ As I said, I was going through tough stuff when I got him. As a spiritual kind of gal I was dealing with my intense feelings of vulnerability by meditating. Right before I got him, I began to see a Lion walking with me at my side in the meditations. I'm very petite and the lion was bigger than me. I continued to see this visual for so long that in real life I even began to feel like there was a powerful Lion with me. One day it dawned on me that when I walk Baron, since he's big, it looks a lot like my meditation. Duh! Baron is the Lion. I believe he was sent to me.

I did not get Baron for the purpose of protection. I got him because he is my dream dog. However, tonight I came online looking for stories about protection because as sweet and loving as he is to the whole neighborhood (he is the resident rock star), as much as he insists on greeting everyone each night, I have a hard time believing that he'd protect me because he's just such a love bug even to strangers! So, there you go. I'm grateful I found this page. I'm loving what I've found here.
Thank you!
