New hair growth

by David Layne
(New Hope, AL)

We have a Great Pyrenees female that turned five months old October 4, 2014. We noticed today that her hair along the length of spine and down the sides that is new growth is very dark, almost a brown. Is something wrong with our dog?

Blow and Grow
by: Ed A from NJ

It's that time of year when they blow there summer light coat and get their big winter coat. While Pyrenees are white it can look a little creamy and some color markings are OK. I am sure she will get light by the time the coat finishes it's transition.

At five months old your little one has a couple years to settle in to her Pyrenees ways. My advice is to sit back and enjoy the ride. With most puppies I use to say the first few years are the most fun but with a Pyrenees every year is a new and wonderful adventure! Enjoy being owned by a Pyrenees. You are now in a great new family of Pyrenees captives!

intresting read on hair
by: Ed A from NJ

David:
I have read the breed standard for the AKC, THE KC AND THE FRENCH KC and all are a little different. But none mention black as a aceptable color. Then I found this site I think it is worth a read. Weather right or wrong I have no idea but some older pictures give it some creedance. It may help you. Check out www.bar6diamondranch.com . They talk about black on Pyrenees.
