Omgosh! It is their favorite thing to do!! My Pyrenees/ Anatolian is 7 1/2 months old and he is just starting to get away from devouring every rug in the house. Loves paper towels and tissues. I purposely leave newspapers strategically placed
in the house so he can find them and shred. He took the lovely quilt on my couch and dragged it through the dog door and took 4 pillows along with it and piled them in the backyard and laid on them. One neat pile of blankets. My St. Bernard just looked at him and then me probably thinking " Uh oh, you are in big trouble!" He wasn't but pillows are put away with quilt. He also chew into 23 pieces my 50 foot hose that was hanging on a branch in a tree. Apparently he climbs tree's while I am at work!

Hi. My 10 month old purebred pyr has more bones and stuff to chew on at home but has recently chewed into the walls and corner of my coffee table.
She gets fed omg. We are so busy I don't understand why she did this.
Any thoughts from other owners.

Your pup is bored.

Your dog is a pup and needs to be contained where she can't get into anything so she won't be injured and your furniture won't be ruined.

She should be getting at least an hour of exercise a day and this should increase to two hours as she matures.

You need to also be 'playing games' (teaching) with her to keep her mind busy and this will also tire her out. But always keep her contained when you cannot watch her.

Here is a good blog on dogs. Teaching is a daily must. You only need to spend a few minutes at a time.

Five Games to Fix Puppy Brain

This is also a great podcast with a lot of good information.

A great starter game for you and your pup.

And, this is Susan Garrett's blog where you can search for just about any training topic.

This should set you in the right direction.

My Great Pyr/Anatolian Shepherd 13 mo old is a 105 lb terror. He's a love, but he's a terror. King down comforter, plastic trash bins, pr casual leather shoes, pr dress leather, pr of sneakers, my wallet, anything I wear, taunting me w/a sock like it's a trophy.

"Indestructible" toys? 10 minutes tops. I walk him, go to the dog park AND we're blessed w/7 sq mi of woods w/no neighbors.

My Tractive gives me real-time locations along w/historical data. Moose averages 5.5 to 6.0 miles/day wandering around our property, barking at?

Next up. Sour apple spray.

It's important to work with your dog, as well as exercise.

He should be crated when you can't watch him. He is still a puppy, and could get into harms way. Crate him with an xpen around the crate when you are there but can't watch him all the time. Give him toys he can chew.

The dog is only as good as the educator.
