Juliet

*ADOPTION PENDING*

D.O.B. January 2020

Akbash or Kuvasz mix

Located in Cambridge, Ontario

Juliet is a lovely dog with a sweet deposition towards people once properly introduced. At first she will bark but always make sure she is allowed to go to the guest on her own terms. She will make fast friends. Men over 50 require some extra time as it was suspected she was abused by an older man so a younger family is recommended.

Dogs of the same sex, in some cases, do not see eye-to-eye. Therefore, if there is another dog in the home, it must be male.

She does not display any guarding issues towards people. She should be fed alone as she will resource guard if near other animals, dogs, livestock, etc. This can be worked with but no animal should be required to share their food.

When it comes to livestock, she is fine with them alone but as soon as someone enters the pen she goes into guarding mode, and will chase the livestock away from her and her person. She is very fearful of horses, and will lunge at them. We are working on this but it is an issue. She has not been successfully introduced to poultry of any kind.

She will be adopted as a companion dog.

As a guardian dog, she uses her voice very well so a detached dwelling is a must.

She is gentle with small children, and loves to play with other dogs! She is good with dog-savvy cats, but she will chase if they run.

She knows her basic commands and is getting better on leash. We still use the gentle leader with her as she is still a puppy but with training, this won't be required in time.

Make sure you do your research on these breeds. She will need on-going positive-reinforcement training. Enrollment in the online Home School the Dog will be a requirement to adopt Juliet.

There is a minimum $400 adoption contribution to made up front to be held in trust until adoption is finalized in a month after dog goes to home on trial. If it doesn’t work out, we reimburse the $400 contribution within the month trial. After that, there is no refund of the adoption contribution.

If you think your family is suitable for this girl, please fill out an adoption application.
