DOB: June 17, 2021
Location: Dashwood, Ontario
Dogs: Yes (we always recommend the opposite sex in the home as not all dogs of the same sex will see eye-to-eye)
Sky is a Great Pyr mix who needs a family ready to make her a part of their lives. This means an active family who walks and hikes. She is presently in her second home due to time constraints for the family.
She is good with kids and people, and dogs. We do not recommend dog parks as not everyone is responsible. Dog fights can ensue if people aren't paying attention to body language. You, then, end up with a dog fearful of other dogs. You want to make sure she remains a confident dog.
Being a puppy, she still gets into mischief so crate-training is a must for those times you can't watch her, her own space to go when she wants to get away and to keep her safe. The Home School the Dog program will help you with this along with other training.
She will go to a family with a single home and a securely-fenced yard of at least 5 feet. Do your research on this breed. We have much on our website.
Note that she has been shaven. Never shave a double-coated dog. They need their coats to keep them cool in summer and warm in winter, but you need to keep them well-groomed. They lose their undercoat for the summer so the longer hairs, guard hairs, keep the elements off their skin and allow the air to flow through to keep them cool. They grow an undercoat for the winter that lies close to the skin keeping them warm in winter. The guard hairs, again, keep out the ice and snow. More information on double-coats.
A pre-requisite will be to sign up for the Home School the Dog program to give her the best chance at success. Proof of registration will be required.
If you are interested in meeting her, please complete an adoption application.
There is a $400 adoption contribution.
