Back feet turn in

by Angelai
(Missouri )

Hi there and thanks for considering my question. I recently acquired a 10 week old purebred Great Pyrenees puppy whose rear feet (toes specifically) curl slightly inward. One side a tad more than the other. She walks runs, plays normal, albeit a little trouble with traction on smoother floors as her claws on that foot can’t get a good grip (they kind of lay on their side). I am hoping to add this girl to my breeding program, IF, it is determined this trait is not a genetic issue. She will have a full set of OFA screening done at age two, along with a full health screening panel. We have an appointment with our vet, but couldn’t get in for a couple of weeks however. Could this possibly be something she could grow out of?
Thanks for your time,
Angela Allen

It's hard to say but I don't imagine they will. Talk to your breeder about this. They will be happy to advise you since they have breeder experience and know their dogs.

I would think this trait would continue through a line hence your breeder definitely needs to know about this. It would have been something the breeder should have known before puppy went to you.

Club feet

They are club feet on the pup. Some correct, some don't. I don't think these will correct themselves.
