*ADOPTED*
This sweetheart landed in a family of two adults, one toddler, and four canine pals who loves her from the moment they met her. She hit the jackpot in living on a hobby farm with a huge fenced in area. And, her diet is raw which is appropriate for dogs (and cats).
DOB: April 2023 (1-year-old approx.)
Location: Paris, Ontario
Children: Over 12 due to her exuberance
Other dogs: Yes, it would be preferable for Vicki to have a companion.
Single family dwelling, with a fully-fenced yard with shelter. She loves to spend her time outside.
She is such a vibrant, energetic puppy who will need someone prepared to work with her to set her up for further success.
Vicki is incredibly affectionate, really really likes to give kisses/licks and greet us each day with excitement and her tail just a wagging!
She has been fine around my son, although given her energy and excitement and desire to lick lots, she may not be best suited around a really young child at this time.
Other than the first night (which is anxiety from being in a new place) there have been no further accidents in the house.
She LOVES being outside, whether playing, catching a nap in the shade, or just watching the world go by. She plays very well with Mya. She is not barking excessively, only with purpose (e.g., she sees somebody, she wants to come in).
She is a good eater, drinks a healthy amount of water and has no issue with Mya eating near by/at the same time as her.
She has shown no fear of the leash or walking on the leash. She has walked on the leash daily and with good etiquette (no pulling). She walks at a comfortable pace, close by to Shawn. Mya walks with them, off-leash, and Vicki has no problems with Mya walking ahead a few steps.
She is showing puppy behaviours, at times she chews on things when left alone (just with Mya), but we bought a bunch more toys and that seems to be proving as a good distraction, although we are very aware of what she is able to get to so she does not chew something important. If you are not there to watch her, set up an expensive with her crate inside so she can stay safe.
This week she has mastered "sit" and is showing more consistency with "down".
She sleeps like a baby, do not hear peep from her through the night. She likes to sleep on the living room floor, we have no issues with chewing or accidents in the night.
She will vocalize if we go outside and she is left inside although she will eventually go lie down.
I am not sure how much this behaviour may be different if Mya was not around, but we are unlikely to get a true idea of that here.
She does like to drink out of the toilet so we have to keep the lid down or door closed.
A prerequisite is to adopting is to register with one of the following programs Recallers, or a modified version Home School the Dog for the best chance at success with Buster.
There is a $400 adoption fee.
