10-yr.old female weight loss

by Patrick
(Lake Sheridan, Pa.)

My 10 yr. Old female has been losing weight. A vet check found a tick blood infection (not Lyme), and treated with antibiotics....she now seems more normal. However she dropped from
102 down to 94 lbs.(1st weight check) I DO take her for walks about three or four times a day.
As I stated she seems normal. Should I try a better food like EVO?

I real dread the thought of seeing her go...

She is 10 so she is a senior.

Does she have arthritis? Does she need to go on some pain meds? What did your vet say? Here is some information:

Three or four walks a day may be too much for her depending on how long they are. If she is in good shape and showing no pain, great.

If she does have arthritis, it means she is looking muscle mass which might be why she is losing weight.

You need a new vet if he can't tell you what is going on with her. I would try another vet for a second opinion.

As for food, it may be too late to get her on raw at this stage. That is the best food

Here is some good information on feeding choices.

Good luck with your girl. If she still looks happy, walks well etc., she is fine. When her time does come, do what is right for her.
