Required: Single detached dwelling with a large securely-fenced yard of at least 5-feet with shade and real grass. He may do well on a hobby farm.

These dogs were bred to wander, and as such, must be contained with secure fencing to protect them.

These dogs need regular grooming to keep their coat effective in the elements of heat and cold. Do not shave double-coated dogs.

Beautiful Thor is a lovely boy. He is an Akbash cross. He did live with four children ages 1 year to 15-years-old. He also lived with other dogs and cats. His owner ended up homeless so needed to give up her dogs.

He is a happy go lucky dog who, as it turns out, is not good in the home contrary to what the owner told us. He bounces off the walls. He is very enthusiastic to meet guests coming into the home, but will calm down. He loves attention from everyone.

Please be ready to work with him and be prepared to give him at least 3 weeks to settle in. You will need to do the work his owner did not do with him. A routine of regular walks and hikes along with consistent Recallers games will get him on track. Don’t expect anything from him at this stage. He doesn't know you or his environment and you don't know him. The Trust Technique and Recallers will do wonders for him and you. Please consider taking one or both courses.

We recommend the online teaching program Recallers or Home School the Dog, which is a modified version of Recallers, to gain an incredible connection with your dog to set him up for success. The Trust Technique is also an excellent way to gain a wonderful connection with your dog.
