8 Month Great Pyr

Is a two-mile walk before I go to work in the mornings enough for an 8 month pup?

Walk
by: Donna

That's a great walk. Then, a pee walk at noon, and another pee walk after work and a pee walk before bed is perfect. He's a pup so he also needs playtime. You'll need to judge his energy levels and go accordingly.

depends
by: Anonymous

Rather depends on how many hours you will be away at work. Being left alone without a human present for long periods is the problem, not the length of the walk you take your pup on beforehand. I'll quote Ed from NJ, as he would say "use a little common sense". Trying to exhaust a puppy with a long walk so you can then leave him all day at his age, is asking for a problem to develop...either behaviour or health-wise. And that's a very long walk for a young dog that's still growing, better to take several shorter walks spaced over the day.
