Our Great Pyrenees Rescue Bert has a Great New Home and a Happy Life

Our Great Pyrenees Rescue Bert was a 5 year old neutered male when he came to us for Rescue in July 2007 and entered our dog adoption program. Bert was a lovely dog who was great with people but unfortunately had territorial issues with other dogs. This did present a problem in placing him as he would not do well in a home which already had pets. Further, he was aggressive with other dogs in a social atmosphere - even out walking.

Bert needed a home where his new owners would have lots of patience with him and take the time to gradually increase his social skills. Bert was not a simple dog adoption case.

It was possible that these skills would never be fully developed. Bert was also a bit of an escape artist so needed a secure home with some space where he could roam.

Bert was in rescue for nearly 10 months before being placed. His new home is located on 200 acres of property - lots of room to roam and not too near other dogs. His owners have horses and Bert has learned to guard the horses, which are now part of his "flock". Bert is happy and thriving. His social skills are still being worked on, but with the patience and kindness of his new owners we know he will do quite well.

Thank you for supporting our dog adoption efforts and providing Bert a great home in which to thrive.
