Brown under the eyes

by Rochelle
(Belton Texas)

My Pyrenees (Malachi Tiberius) continues to have brown wetness under his eyes that I cannot wash off. Could it be from allergies or what? And is there something I can use to get it off that won't hurt if it gets into his eyes?

What your seeing is fairly common. When your dogs eyes tear it discolors the natural bacteria on the dogs skin and you get a red or brown staining in the fur. It is harmless but unsightly on your dogs pretty face. The best product (and safest) is a cleansing pad called true blue. Wipe the eyes daily and in time they will vanish. It takes time and it is a daily exercise if you wish to keep them clean. I also found bottled water tends to reduce the mess. Most dogs have a bit of this problem but it shows up best on white face dogs. Good luck

Get your dog to a vet ASAP.

It could be anything. We cannot diagnose online.

Tearing
by: Donna

I've never had this on my Pyr's faces. I've fed them raw which may help, too.

Here is some good information on tearing:
