Causes of death

by Jodi
(Canada)

My 10 year old male passed away unexpectedly...has no previous health issues..he was dry heaving when we woke in morning but settled in for snuggles....when I returned from work he was lying there cold and hard. What possibly could have happened?...is there anything I could've done, how come I couldn't see this coming?...every other dog I've ever had were sick for months before passing...I miss him so much

Sudden Death
by: Donna

I am so sorry, Jodi. What are hard loss for you.

That is something that is difficult to diagnose online and I'm not a vet. Perhaps a heart attack. It doesn't sound like there is anything you could have done. You gave him a good life I am certain.

It may be too early for me to say this but the good thing is he wasn't sick for a long time. That is more difficult for you but it sounds like he went quickly and, hopefully, pain free which is good for him.

Do not blame yourself. Some things are out of our control.

Big hugs to you, and be good to yourself.

Death

this can happen to any breed.

Has your friend talked to the vet? Was the dog on any medication, had any medications or had any vaccinations lately that may have caused this?

Perhaps genetics were involved? talking to the breeder might help to find out if there is some health issue background.
