Coat Loss - 5 year old Pyr

by mel
(raleigh, nc, usa)

Please can anyone help. We have a 5 year old great Pyrenees who started loosing hair on tail about year and half ago and vet said she was fine. However over the summer she has lost much of her hair on tail and back of legs. She has had no new hair growth and with winter on us we are very concerned.

Her coat is normally very thick especially going into winter but its the same as in the summer.

Someone please help. We are seeing a new vet on Monday but trying to find some information. Out local vet apparently is unfamiliar with this type dog.

Thanks for all the help.

Keep changing vets until you find a vet who can help you. To diagnose over the internet won't help you.

Please read this information. It could be anything depending on a lot of variables.

Chewing hair

My Pyrenees lost hair on both back and tail and chewed himself. We tried different shampoos but nothing helped until we changed him to no grain food. He had developed allergies and the food change made all the difference!
