Dewclaws
by: Donna

Like the nails, you have to keep the dewclaws trimmed short at least once every two weeks.

If you can't do it, have your vet do it for you especially if it is digging into his pad. This area will become infected. This is obviously painful for your dog. Then, keep up with the trimming.

Do not let the vet remove his dewclaws. Once his dewclaws have been cut back, again, keep them trimmed.

Here is an excellent article on dewclaws. Copy and paste the URL into your browser.

Trim nails and dews
by: Donna

You just need to get a groomer to come to your house. You can google 'mobile groomers' for your area. They will be happy to come to yours.

If the nails are digging into his pads, yes, contact a vet. He should be able to refer you to a mobile vet who can come to your home once you explain your circumstances.
