Great Pyrenees Rescue Rain

Rain has found his forever home. This was his story...

"Hi, I'm Rain and I am a 4... well almost 5yr old, male Great Pyrenees cross (with something else? I'm unique. I am looking for a loving family or a person, who has time for me. I really need another dog to play with. Any breed, any age, but one big enough and young enough to play, romp and run around with me, please!.

I am energetic, though I do love to cuddle and settle at days end. I love everyone. I love to give hugs, though my humans make me sit a lot.
I am not a licker and I stay clean. I like to talk to everyone. Again the humans, tell me to stop and I do, though if there is a stranger
around, I will let you know.

I am pen/crate/pottie trained, which is great, though I tend not to like the pen, but I go in. I am so excited when I go on walks, I think I need
a haultie, cuz my human isn't fast enough and I pull her, so she has me on a short leash and I am doing okay but further training is required.

I was surrendered, because my 1st owner did not have the time to look after me properly. I was left in a small pen in the garage day in and
day out. I was very unhappy and now I get uneasy when my humans leave.

I love my foster mom, though I want a forever loving home. Can you find a place for me in your heart?

Thank you for reading this;

Love Rain

Please note: Rain would do well in a family who will provide him with plenty of exercise and continue his training. He still acts like a puppy
and needs a family/person that will help him learn what acceptable behaviour is. Another dog to play, wrestle and frolic with is a must
for this boy. Though if you have time to walk/play with him, doggie play dates are fine."

The best boy
by: Heather MacRae

I am surprised Rain is still on the site. He is a fabulous dog for anyone. I fostered him for a year and then was posted to Northern Ab. He needs a forever home... hope its you.

Such a wonderful boy...
by: Katy

We had Rain for a week and a half over Christmas and I can't sing enough praises about this dog. Though he doesn't like car rides very much, he is amazing in almost every other way.

He helped my family through a difficult week when my Grandpa passed over Christmas and we stayed with my parents and their dog Constance Fleur during that week. He made fast friends with Constance and loved cuddles which helped us so much that week.

I would love to see him get a home soon, he's one of the most loving and wonderful dogs I've fostered so far.

Camping
by: Foster Mom

Rain had his 1st long ride in the car (5hrs), it took him awhile to settle, always wanting to be up front. He settled with Wendel.

1st pit stop he was out the door. 15 min later...human lesson learned.

He did great at the cottage surrounded by woods/ppl (big, small) and other dogs, and slept well in the tent, so proud.
The ride home was a snap, well behaved and exhausted from the fresh air.

Truely a family dog, feel free to email me

SUCH a fantastic dog!
by: Kate's

I had the great pleasure of babysitting Rain for the weekend and we were honestly sad to see him go. I don't have the time to devote to a dog but if I did you can be assured I would take Rain in a heartbeat. He has a sweet disposition and is a total snugglebug who is not shy to let you know he wants affection.

My son, who has ADHD/Asperger's, is not a rough-and-tumble kid and prefers a quiet environment. Rain must have sensed this because he was completely laid-back during his entire stay and my son is hoping he can visit again very soon. Rain also played quite well with my friend's two dogs.

Update 15 Mar 2012
by: Current foster mom

Rain has calmed down severely since our first meeting in the fall of 2011. Before he was go, go, go and now he is much more, shall I say, manageable (a human comment).

With guidance (attention), exercise and training, Rain pays better attention. He is a fabulous guard dog and alerts you to strangers. He is not an annoying barker, though if he is fixed on something, words of command or a water bottle works.

He has play dates two times per week with another male Pyr (Balto), with a walking training session. He is doing much better with walking, though like most dogs when they 1st go out, needs a reminder.

Rain is a doll with a great disposition and a kind heart that will surely melt yours when you meet him.

Rain is currently living in Ottawa.
