Great Pyrenees

Should I worry that my Great Pyr isn't interested in eating a lot or drinking water?

Dog won't eat
by: Anonymous

No that is not a normal behavior for a Pyrenees, they are sometimes picky with food, but I have found that mine always want water. Did your dog come into contact with anything that might be toxic?

picky eater

If she were mine, I would for sure take her to a vet for a checkup. If her health checks out okay, you may have to change her to another brand of food. They can be picky, so make sure the food is good quality with meat, no meat by-products, grain, corn, or potato. Keep her bowls scrubbed clean daily, with fresh food and fresh water. We feed our Bernese and our Pyr dry kibble adding water and a tbsp. of canned to each bowl for taste and added moisture intake. If she does not get any exercise, she may not feel hungry. So, a nice walk 2x/day may increase her need for food. And remember to let her rest a 1/2 hour before and after her meals. Keep trying. She needs you to help her. Good luck...hope you find a solution soon.
