How much should a Great Pyrenees/Marrema be fed per day.

Our Daughter and Son-in-law have a Pyrenees/marrema mix that guards their goats. Sweet dog. I'm afraid it isn't being fed enough as it looks thin to me. How much should it get per day?
Thank you.

It will depend on the weight of the dog. If he eats raw food, he should eat 2-3% of his ideal weight.

If he is eating kibble, it's important the recommendations on the bag are followed. You always feed for the dog's ideal weight.

A visit to the vet would help. They will take his weight right away and advise you if he is a good weight or not.

These dogs normally only eat as much as they need. You can put too much in their bowl and they'll eat what they need and leave the rest for later.

As an aside, even though you didn't ask, it's important to have a second dog to help with the task of guarding so the other dog can take a break.
