Integrating with cats

by Karen
(Toronto)

I have adopted a two year old female Great Pyr and despite being informed that she would be good with cats, that is not the case.
Has anyone been successful with integrating their Pyr with their cat?

Cats
by: Michael

We gifted our Pyr with a kitty when he was about six months old. The cat was horrible to the dog. The dog just wanted to play and he exercised the patience of Job. Now they are the best of friends and even sleep together. We found out later the cat was only three weeks old when we got her(far to young to be taken from its mother) The cat is now starting show behavior that is more of a Pyr than a cat.

What exactly is happening that they don't get along?

You always need to go slowly with any introduction between animals.

Cats and Pyres

We have had four G.P. No problem with our cats. My son has a cat that has a poor disposition and our pyre sensed that and decided he did not like the cat. Will even protect the cats
