Our sweet old Great Pyrenees is over 13 years old. Her back end is very hard to keep clean and unmatteed. She had started having occasional poop accidents in the house. Maybe once a week, but not more often than that. However her fur is getting consistently matted near her vagina and poop is getting matted into her back end fur and sometimes the tail.
Not sure how to best take care of her. We are doing some vinegar and baking soda washing, but combing or brushing down there doesn't seem practical because it really stresses her out and seems to be very uncomfortable for her. Is it okay to use a clippers to keep her fur shaved in that area?
Thank you.

My pure is 1 year old. Is he likely to stop tearing up anything with foam rubber? Thanks

I just adopted my Great Pyrenees, Leo, a few days ago. He was kept intact by his last owners and used as a stud. He will be 2 years old in May this year.

I have had a Great Pyrenees for the last 34 yrs. Not a “working” dog except in my home. Trust them with my life and I too, would do anything for them.
