Killing sibling

Will a one year old Pyrenees male mix kill his brother? Came home to the one dead and the other one had him by the neck shaking him around with his tail wagging. They had been fighting a lot recently over food, toys, and attention.

Killing male sibling

If these were two intact males, yes, one obviously killed the other one until death.

Never should two intact males be together. They should have been separated long ago and both neutered. This is instinct for intact males. Even if you were planning on neutering them, they still would not have gotten along.

Be careful of your dog with other dogs and other animals. Get him neutered.

Pyrs are a working breed and were bred to guard sheep.....and yes they will kill to protect their flock! That being said if your pups were showing signs of aggression around food and toys that should of been acknowledged and a trainer/certified vet behaviourist may have helped. Until these issues had been resolved both dogs should've been crated. Unfortunately, people are breeding Pyrs without being actual breeders (farmers/backyard breeders/puppy mills) and don't educate the buyers. They also don't always breed dogs that are sound of temperament and the result are aggressive pups. 2 males or 2 females are rarely recommended for anyone. Those of us that have same genders usually know the breed inside and out. I'm sorry you lost one of your dogs. My suggestion to you for the remaining dog to get help from a good trainer/certified vet behaviourist so this doesn't happen again
