If you already have a male dog I would tell you a female is your only choice. If you bring in a male somewhere down the road a fight is going to take place maybe right away but by the time the Pyrenees matures he will indeed prove himself to be the alpha dog. If you get a good size male your lab will be no match and it will be ugly. This calm wonderful breed has this one unpleasant draw back. Do yourself a favor and get a female. You will totally enjoy the experience and don't worry a female Pyrenees is plenty of protection. On their pages you can read about the little female who fended off a bear to protect her family so it is a win win ether way. Enjoy your lab and get to know this wonderful breed.
