Puppy chow?

by Alex

I have a 5 month old Pyr. She's been eating purina puppy chow because that is what she was on when I got her. She sheds A LOT, I understand that it comes with the territory but I was wondering if it was because of her nutrition. I want to know what the best type of food for their breed is, I am prepared to cook for her but it would be easier if there were a bagged dry food.

Puppy Chow

Check the ingredients on it. First ingredient appears to be corn which is a filler. Then corn meal etc. These are not very nutritious ingredients.

I would recommend raw feeding. My Pyrs shed very little with a weekly grooming and with this diet. It's a more natural way to feed and they love it. If you need to feed kibble, look for oven-baked as opposed to extruded.

Or, try the dehydrated raw diet. This can be a great alternative.
