Puppy Weight

by Sherr Conard

My Pyrenees puppy was gaining roughly 1/2 lb a day until 11 weeks of age. She has grown in the last week and a half, I can see that, but she hasn't gained any weight in that last one and a half weeks. She's been wormed at 6, 9, and 12 weeks. Is it normal to stall on weight gain like this?

growth spurts
by: Anonymous

Of course, your vet would be the very best person to consult if you are worried about your pup. She may be in a growth spurt at the moment, which will 'eat up' all of the nutrition of her food ration. You could increase the amount you feed her by a little bit each mealtime, just to help her thru the spurt. If she's doing well on that increase, keep her on that amount.
Our pup's weight did that, too. Pyrs grow big, really fast. He's 140 lbs. now. So, don't worry. If she's generally bright eyed and bushy tailed, she's fine.
