Pyrenees Retriever Mix

by Hillary
(Seattle)

My Pyrenees Retriever mix just turned 6 years old. She has had a full white coat with no spots or browning until about 4 months ago. Her coat has turned to almost completely brown. It feels as though she went from Pyrenees to Retriever in about a months time. Her diet, lifestyle hasn't changed. And the season hasn't changed enough to seem to make a difference there. What caused this change in color? Is it age related? And will it change back?

It's an interesting question. One for which there may be no answer. Genetics plays a role. Has to do with recessive colors and dominant colors.
It's a curious thing, but this doesn't change anything else about her. Your relationship with each other is the same as it was before. You will get used to her new retro look, eventually.
And just when you do, she may return back to her former normal! Who knows, really. And really, it doesn't matter.
