Rescue 3yr old Pyrenees will not come into the house

by Ray
(Stover, Mo.)

We recently rescued a 3 yr old male Pyrenees and he will not come into the house. We would like to have him come in and out a couple of times during the day and then in for the night to sleep. He was used for breeding and lived in a 10x10 cage and the shelter had him neutered.

Outside
by: Donna

He obviously isn't used to living in a house. You'll need to take your time to get him used to the house by bringing him for short periods and gradually extended them, giving him good treats (liver treats). Walk him through the house on leash for these short periods, let him sniff and take his time.

He probably isn't house broken so you'll need to watch that. If he looks like he'll lift a leg, take him right outside and 'good boy' when he does pee outside.

Make sure he has shelter outside.

Only three and was used for breeding and I suspect at a puppy mill or backyard breeder. Poor guy.

Give him some time to come around. Thank you for adopting.

Coming in the house
by: Jerry and Elizabeth walters

We rescued a 2 year old Great Pyr named yeti. He is now 3 1/2.. He spent the first two days in the back linai . Then went as far as the kichen . It took him a long time to venture forth to the master bedroom . As far as his history we were told he was rescued at a yard sale at a farm . Give it time . He will come in . He is the most wonderful fluffy love bug

Great Pyrenees
by: Ruark's Samson

We have come up on a full year, and he has been coming in and out now on his own. At times we have to help him, but normally he comes up to the door to be let in or ask us to come out. Lol!

Thanks for your input.
