Shedding

(Cedarville Michigan)

It's December 12th and Buddy is beginning to shed fur like it's May . Seems that his winter coat came a little late, but what do I know. We are in northern Michigan and it's been unseasonably warm this fall. Does this seem okay?
Buddy is a male eighteen months. Also he spends a lot of time in the house.
Thanks folks.

It's unreasonably warm in Ottawa, too. I expect that the dogs are a little messed up with this weather.

Do not fear. If it's that warm, he certainly doesn't want to carry around a huge winter coat right now. Animals have a better handle on the weather than we do.

Get out your slicker brush and comb and starting grooming.

If he likes to spend time outside, let him out (providing you have at least 5 foot secure fencing). You'll have, perhaps, less hair to clean up in the house.

It's February 2016. We have a bro/sis pair of Great Pyrs just over a year old that have started shedding in huge clumps. I literally just filled a plastic grocery bag with hair from my boy alone!

We are in No California and currently are having a bout of spring-like weather, although even when it has rained it hasn't gotten that cold at all.

Good to know this is quite normal for them. Kind of spooked by the comment above of a woman's Grt Pyr having Addison disease. I'll look into that just to be on the safe side.
