Spay - At what age?

We are getting a pup 8 weeks old in two weeks.We are planning to have her fixed.There are so many different opinions on when it is the best time in her young life to have this done.What do you guys think is best! We dont want to chance her getting peg. Gona be a spoiled puppy dog.( house and yard guard) We have a 6 year old male for her to play with and he is already fixed.Thank You ck in va.

You sound like a very responsible dog person.

If you can wait until she is one, that would be great. You will get benefit of her growth hormones. If you can wait until two, that is even better.

Just make sure, of course, she has no chance at getting pregnant before hand. Know that stray dogs and she can find ways to get at each other, even through a fence or a dog can get over the fence. Or, yours may find a way over the fence.
