Strongly dislikes some people

Our Pyr is socialized with people and dogs however sometimes he just doesn't like someone and is very in your face vocal and loud large barks. Seems he has some gut reaction? About the persons quality. No amount of gestures can make him like them.

Head Strong but good judge of people
by: Ed A from NJ

I have had a similar experience with mine. I think it is a combination of two things. First I think they feed off you, if mine senses when I am tense and it puts him on edge. I also can say he does have his own sense of who is trouble and I totally trust him. These dogs have had to make there own decisions for centuries so that doesn't surprise me. This is just what I THINK! Hopefully someone can enlighten both of us?

Just give in
by: Anonymous

Our male pyr does the same thing. He has only not liked 2 people so far, but there was no way we could change his mind. Finally we just gave up and avoided those people.

Attacking pyr
by: Anonymous

HI...my dog attacks people (never has bitten but claws, bruises and throws them around) or tries to bite the door when he sees them in my house. My son is moving home from college and I'm worried that he will attack him. How can I show him that my son also needs his protection?
