Does your dog want to be outside all the time? Perhaps he's a guardian dog? Most Pyrs want to be outside all the time but they definitely need the proper shelter in cold and heat.

If your Pyr does not want to come in at night, make sure you have an insulated dog house with a thick bed inside. That way, if he wants to warm up, he has the option to go inside day or night. Make sure to check him regularly to see that he is warm enough. If not, do bring him in to warm up.

Make sure he is well-groomed so that his skin can breath, and his two layers of coat can function properly.

Dogs feet in cold
by: Jeanette

I've been coating my dogs feet with Vaseline before I take him out for a walk. The weather is below zero. He otherwise lives with us indoors. After he gets back in I wipe off the Vaseline so he won't lick it. Since Vaseline is a laxative. This seems ok. Is it a good idea?
