Weight gain

by Heidi
(Cap cod, ma)

I have a GP he's 7 months old. He is getting longer but seems that he looks so thin. Is this normal for the pups to look thinner as they shed and grow in length? He eats good. Usually eats when someone is in the same room with him, if not he waits. He just seemed so full when I got him.

growth

It has been too many years since I have had a HUMAN teenager in the house, but I do remember that when he reached that stage of growth at 12-16yrs of age he too became 6ft. tall almost overnight and was boney and a bottomless pit. He spent a lot of time standing in front of the open door of the fridge.
Thing is, its normal.
Same thing is going on with your pup.
Our Pyr pup was still on 4 meals/day during that time, and we had switched him to a high-end kibble that has real meat as the first 4 ingredients, no grain, no corn. He ate steady. He appeared boney and long too. But he sure filled out after he reached 2 yrs! Now he's pretty steady at 140lbs, his body condition is perfect, he has a meal 2x/day, and he wants it outside no matter the weather. They all seem to have their own quirks.
Our human son filled out, too. Finally stopped growing tall at 6ft 6inches. : )
Enjoy this time with your young dog....it's fleeting.
