Weight

We have a male 3 month old GP Stark healthy and happy but he only weighs 16.9 pounds, he eats 4 1/2 cups of food a day plus treats. Is he very much underweight?

Thanks

You need to take your dog to the vet to determine if he is the right weight for his age.

I'm assuming you saw the parents of the dog. That would give you an indication if he is going to be a big dog or not.

This may help you until you go to the vet.

The best answer is see the vet first. It could just be he has yet to hit his next growth spert. Don't go buy growth spurts my runt ended up being one of the biggest males I ever seen at 165 and not fat at all. May be nothing but a quick trip to the vet wouldn't hurt.

If your pup has had a proper worming schedule and you have followed it to the letter, your pup has had his health thoroughly checked, is inoculated against the diseases puppies are prone to (Parvo) and given a thumbs-up by your veterinarian...then perhaps his food needs a second look.

Be sure you buy the very best you can afford. Avoid anything with corn meal, meat meal, grains. His future health depends on this. Be aware that some grocery store brands are cheaper because the ingredients are mostly fillers and not digestible. Again, your vet can advise you on this. Follow his advice.

I have a male Great Pyrenees puppy that will be 11 weeks tomorrow. He was at the vet today and he weighs 28.5 lbs. I would take him to a vet to make sure he doesn't need wormed or that he's eating enough.
