No. Double-coated dogs such as Pyrs do not.

The long guard hairs form the outer layer and protect against the elements. The soft undercoat close to the skin keeps your dog warm and dry. In summer, your dog will shed this undercoat leaving the guard hairs. The guard hairs protect your dog from a sunburn and insulate him from the heat.

Without the undercoat, the air circulates through the guard hairs to cool the skin.

Hence, it is very important to keep your dog well-groomed on a regular basis. Never shave.

Here is a great article on it:

My Pyrenees not eating
by: Michele Harrington

Thought this was interesting. I wrote of concerns that my two dogs stopped eating for 2 weeks once we moved their bowls on the porch at the same time our grandchildren visited. Well, the day they left we moved their bowls back inside. Walla! Eating like normal again! 😁 Guess they don't like change!
