big yard for a pyr???
by: Anonymous

I think it depends on the particular pyr. Mine is 5 yrs old, an inside dog but he has about a 1/2 acre yard he can roam in if he wishes. We do have an electric fence so he does not venture outside of it. He loves to stay inside and go out when he wants to.

Fencing more important than size
by: Katy

It's ideal for many of them, but it does depend on the dog. We fostered in a townhouse for 2 years, but we had to go out with the dogs on a leash for every poop and pee outing. Dogs with low energy levels might do fine without a large yard; ours does okay with his yard, which is not huge, but he gets 1-2 mile walks on a reasonably regular basis.

Any sized yard though must be well-fenced otherwise, they can, and do frequently, escape.
