Callie

We are brand-new to being owned by a Pyr - our Callie came to us just two weeks ago via a local rescue organization. She has fit perfectly into our household, a soft, sweet presence with impeccable manners and a constant wish to be petted and hugged. We live in a city, no bears or big predators here, but Callie is already our best buddy and guardian.

Five days ago, my husband was with Callie on her nighttime walk when two stray dogs came up from behind and jumped on her. Hubby said they appeared to be a pit bull and a pit mix of some sort - it all happened so fast. He slipped and fell in the middle of the street as the dogs went straight for Callie's throat, but he was able to hang on to the leash, get back up and help her. He said she handled herself so well, and ran both dogs off. Only a half-inch-long scratch on one leg. She was positively prancing and SO proud of herself when she got home.

We have fallen in love with this beautiful dog, and with the Great Pyrenees breed. Those dogs messed with the wrong lady when they tried to mess with her. ;)

Good Callie!

Good girl Callie! I loved reading this post; it brought tears to my eyes because I was so filled with concern and then read how she handled herself. Wow! I'm glad she put those two bullies in their place.

My pyr would probably not be so confident. Generally she cowers behind me if there's trouble. She is a rescue who was very traumatized when we got her two years ago. She is 3 years old now.
