You need a new groomer. A master groomer would never shave a dog unless the mats were so bad they couldn't get a comb through them. But, even those can be worked through slowly. A little each day.

You, also, need to groom your dog regularly. This means once a day with a slicker brush and a good grooming with a comb and slicker brush every weekend. You wouldn't need to pay a groomer.

Sadly, your dog's coat will probably not come back as it should. It won't be effective for the seasons. That is, keeping your dog cool in summer and warm in winter.

I suspect he is also acting differently with the shaven coat. They know they have lost their coat, and are very uncomfortable with that.

Here is why coats should not be shaven any time.

There isn't much you can do except leave your dog in an air conditioned house and bring in a dog walker.

I don't know where you live but it's not usually a good idea to leave your dog outside when you're not there. At least make sure the gate is locked, and he isn't bothering the neighbours.

Make sure there is plenty of shade and places to dig holes for him to stay cool. And, of course, fresh water.

I am very upset. This is a rescue dog and very aggresive to ups man and so on.unfounantly we must leave him out or he will destroy the house. We are going to get a cooling type of best for the day time. Here in central va it's hot now. I will be building a large dog house with air. And heat very soon. Its all I can do now! IF anyone else has gone threw this your input will be greatly appreciated.
