My family has raised working Pyrs for over 45 years now and I love to hear stories like this which reinforce what they are bred to do. One female and youngster of our breeding were purchased years ago by a family in Alaska specifically to keep the family safe, and the female gave her life doing just that. She took on a grizzly in defense of her family. Thank God Frank is safe and not badly injured from her encounter, I'm certain that bear will think twice about coming near your cottage again.
