What a great breed and what an amazing dog!

This story is so inspiring! It really shows the lengths to which even a family pet Pyr will go to when its "flock" is threatened.

We have just adopted a young female Great Pyrenees from a local shelter. We were looking for a livestock guardian, but after reading this amazing account, it is obvious that we have an amazing dog that will guard everything and everyone in her "flock" - not just the livestock. I knew Pyrs were great dogs, I just didn't realize how great.

I was taking Maggie to the groomer before I went to work one day last week. She was in the back of my Jeep asleep (or so it seemed). A car pulled up next to us and she was up in a flash checking it out. This brought home to me just how protective they are. What absolutely amazing, wonderful dogs Great Pyrenees are!
