Backs into a room

by Linda

My Pry often turns around and backs into rooms and other places. Often it appears he does not like a slick floor and would rather back in. Is there a logical reason for this behaviour?

Here is a good article with information for you to consider.

Your dog could be in pain, so that is important to consider and get checked out.

Backs into a room
by: Nadine

I have 3 adult Great Pyrs, and each has different behaviors. There is no herd of livestock for my girls to protect....just me, I'm it.

Morgan is my girl who is my personal protector from preditors. She insists on lying on my feet so if I need to stand up she is imediately allerted and jumps to attention. She must go infront of me to my destination to make sure there are no preditors lurking ahead of us.

If I am headed to the bathroom, she MUST go in first, to check it is safe for me to enter. Then Morgan lies in waiting, her butt facing me and her facing the doorway so no preditors can enter.

Going back to my home office, it is the same, she has to go infront of me, to see all is safe for me, then lies on or near my feet, facing the door so no one can follow us in.

I think your boy goes to a doorway, sees the room inside is clear of preditores, then turns around and backs into the room, so he can see that no preditors are following him into that room.

Or I could be totally wrong.
