Wonderful Dog Adoption Stories By Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog Lovers
We never tire of reporting successful dog adoption stories. It is, after all, what many dedicated club members have committed themselves to. And we never tire of welcoming those who share our love for the Great Pyrenees and provide loving homes and shelter for these lucky rescue dogs.

It is because dog adoption is so important to us, that we dedicate this area of our web site to those dogs who have found new homes and to those whose hearts led them to adopt a dog. We are forever grateful for their kindness and support. We know that all rescue dogs can repay their adoptive families with love, affection and complete dedication, and the Great Pyr is no exception. Three cheers to the folks who have chosen to share their lives with a Great Pyr and to our rescue dogs that have found new, loving homes. You should know that some of our rescue dogs are placed before they are ever posted on our web site. But you can still make one of these wonderful stories yours. All you have to do is start by completing our
Great Pyrenees Adoption Form today.
Here in this house...I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'. I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed. I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I'll eat. I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat. I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose. My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.
Here in this house...
There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words. I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many. My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it!
Here in this house...
I will never be a substitute for anything I am not. I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. I will be loved because I am who I am, not someones idea of who I should be. I will never suffer for someones anger, impatience, or stupidity. I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all. If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame.
Here in this house...
I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me. If I am ill, I will be doctored. If scared, I will be calmed. If sad, I will be cheered. No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and known to be of value. I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough. My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought. I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.
Here in this house...
I will belong. I will be home. (author unknown)

Here are few stories of Great Pyrs who have found new wonderful lives through our Great Pyrenees Rescue efforts. The Great Pyrenees Club of Southern Ontario rescues and finds new loving homes for over 30 rescue dogs every year. Our small volunteer team is very committed to its rescue mission and is restrained only by the limited resources at hand. We are very proud of our accomplishments and are delighted to share some of our success stories with you. So if you are interested in some of our past dog rescues, look no further.

The Need For Dog Adoption
It seems that no matter how strong our efforts to prevent Great Pyrs from becoming rescues, the need remains. Our Club is actively involved in informing anyone and everyone about the unique characteristics and needs of the Great Pyrenees. It is our hope that providing better information will change behaviour and reduce the number of Great Pyrs who enter our Rescue facilities. But of course the need will always be there for there are many reasons why Great Pyrs become rescues. Dog Adoption is the happy ending to our Great Pyrenees Rescue stories. Our club is very grateful to all of you with open hearts who assist us in these efforts. We thank you, for without you this would be an impossible task. You can write your own story, starting now! If you would like to join the ranks of our wonderful adopting families, you can start the adoption process by completing our
dog adoption form.
Let's return to Great Pyr Rescue where dog adoption begins.
